- All work must be students original work/ideas.
- No company logos or slogans to be used.
- Entries must pertain to the theme.
- Winners will be contacted after judging and will then be honored at the Ag Days Awards Dinner, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Awards Program, Sonoma County Fairgrounds.
- All Ag Days Student Contest Entries must be delivered between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on February 9 - 12, 2016 to Sonoma County Farm Bureau, 3589 Westwind Blvd., Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
Rules: One bookmark per student. Bookmarks must be 2” x 6” and relate to the theme. Bookmarks must include school, grade, student’s name, teacher’s name, address, phone and email on the entry.
Rules: One essay per student. Essay must be a minimum of 50 words and a maximum of 150 words and be based on the theme. Essay must include school, grade, student’s name, teacher’s name, address, phone and email on the entry.
Rules: One poster per student. Design a garden for one of the four growing seasons (spring, summer, fall or winter). Posters may be no smaller than 8 1/2” x 11” and no larger than 12” x 18”. Posters will be judged for originality and relevance to design instructions to be eligible. Poster must include school, grade, student’s name, teacher’s name, address, phone and email on poster back.
A top prize of $1,000 will be awarded to a teacher or group of teachers who develop an agricultural and/or environmental education project at their school. To enter, teachers submit a proposal of 1-2 pages outlining a project currently being developed or a project that is envisioned for the education of their students. (Proposals are due Dec. 11, 2015) These projects can include school gardens, nutrition education, soil health, beneficial insects, pollinators and other topics related to agriculture, food systems, conservation and the environment. Proposals can be generated individually or with a group of teachers from the same school.
Rules: One mural per class. Design a theme related farm mural that includes all four seasons (spring, summer, fall and winter). Murals must be 3’ X 6’ and have three reinforced holes at the top for hanging. Murals will be judged on originality and relevance to the design instructions to be eligible. Murals must include school, grade, teacher’s name, address, phone and email on the entry.
Rules: One Presentation Per Class, Student or Group of Students. Create a theme related project that is no larger than 3’ x 3’ x 3’ using ONLY items from the following: Crayons, Colored Pencils, String, Glue/Paste, Water Based Paints, Wire, Fabric, Wood, Paper Products, Natural/Organic Matter (non-perishable) and/or Chalk. The project will be judged on content, creativity, originality as well as visual appeal. Each entry must have the school or student’s name, grade, teacher’s name, address, phone and email on the entry.
Rules: One presentation per class, student or group of students. Create a theme related presentation using two or more of the following: Audio, Video, PowerPoint, Slide Show and Photography. The presentation should be no more than five minutes in length. The presentation will be judged on content as well as visual appeal, sound and technical ability. Please submit your presentation on a DVD or flash drive. Each entry must have the school or student’s name, grade, teacher’s name, address, phone and email included with the entry.
Mural, Old School and New School:
Ribbons and $50 will be awarded to each grade’s 1st place winner. The grand prize winner, selected from first place winners, will receive a plaque and $100 in total prize money. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each categories. Categories: K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and Special Education.
Bookmark, Essay and Poster:
Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each category. The grand prize winner, will be selected from first place winners and will receive a plaque and $50. Categories: K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and Special Education.
