Chance to Bid on "The Hunt of a Lifetime” at Great Sonoma Crab & Wine Fest
The premier auction item at this year's 23rd Annual Great Sonoma Crab & Wine Fest is a rare opportunity to hunt for a bull Tule Elk at the beautiful 3,000 acre R&R Ranch in Potter Valley, CA.
Tule Elk tags are among the most difficult tags to procure in California. There are no public tags available for this species as the elk are protected. Each year, landowners who provide habitat for the elk are allotted one tag from the California Department of Fish and Game. Gary Rasche of R&R Ranch in Potter Valley, CA. has donated his tag to Sonoma County Farm Bureau for auction at the Crab and Wine Fest to raise money for agriculture education and scholarships.
"A single Tule Elk tag, alone, normally sells for tens of thousands of dollars at an auction," says Rasche. "This package includes much more than just a tag, but an experience that will not soon be forgotten, making it the hunt of a lifetime."
The prized hunt will include a weekend of entertainment for the high bidder along with four guests. The hunting party will arrive at the ranch estate on Thursday afternoon to begin the three-night, four-day stay at Rasche's Victorian mansion. The eight bedroom mansion is furnished with antiques and priceless collectibles including the mounted game that Rasche has bagged on his world wide hunting expeditions.
Rasche is known for his hospitality. Guests will be treated to lavish meals and drink during their stay at the R&R Ranch, enjoying both luxury and outdoor adventure on the sprawling spread in Mendocino County.
The professionally guided hunt will be in August of 2012. One of Rasche's senior ranch managers will guide the hunter to the herd of more than 200 elk, where they will have their pick of the very best of the herd.
In addition to the hunt and stay, Forrest Farnsworth of Big Game Taxidermy in Sebastopol will mount the bagged Tule Elk for half the normal fee. The rack can then be displayed for all to see as an amazing reminder of the hunt.
This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience to hunt for a Tule Elk while enjoying the hospitality of R&R Ranch and its historic ambiance. Bidders can participate in the auction as a live participant at the event or bidder numbers can be pre-registered for those who cannot make the event. All offsite bidders need to contact Sonoma County Farm Bureau prior to the event to participate.
Proxy bidders can also be registered for people who can't make the event, but are interested in bidding on this or other great items. For more information contact Steven@sonomafb.org
