Grand Prize Winners in the Ag Days Contests

Farm Bureau administers 8 different agriculture related contests for kids of all ages at Ag Days. Below are the results of the 2013 Contests.

Scarecrow Contest – Ms.  Russell-Larrain’s kindergarten class at Apple Blossom School in Sebastopol

Ms. Russell-Larrain’s kindergarten class at Apple Blossom School in Sebastopol,  won the grand prize award in the Ag Days Scarecrow Contest. The class received a plaque and $50 check from Sonoma County Farm Bureau. Ms. Russell-Larrain, holding the plaque, is joined by her students. Presenting the award, left to right,  Sonoma County Supervisors Susan Gorin and Shirlee Zane, Socorro Shiels, superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools and Dr. Steven Herrington, superintendent of the Sonoma County Office of Education.

Luc Rulmont, a second grade student at Prestwood School in Sonoma, was the grand prize winner in the Ag Days’ Farm Photography Contest. He won a plaque and $50 from Sonoma County Farm Bureau. Presenting the award, left to right, are Sonoma County Supervisors Susan Gorin and Shirlee Zane, Socorro Shiels, superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools and Dr. Steven Herrington, superintendent of the Sonoma County Office of Education.

Farm Video Contest – Third Grade Class at Proctor Terrace Elementary School.  Teachers Mrs. Cartan, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Koski, Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Matich.

Poster Contest – Abi Mello, a fourth grade student at Windsor Christian School

Protor Terrace Elementary School’s third grade class won the grand prize in the Ag Days’ Farm Video Contest, winning a plaque and $50. The students were guided by teachers Mrs. Cartan, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Koski, Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Matich.  Presenting the award, left to right, are Sonoma County Supervisors Susan Gorin and Shirlee Zane, Socorro Shiels, superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools and Dr. Steven Herrington, superintendent of the Sonoma County Office of Education.

Abi Mello, a fourth grade student at Windsor Christian School, won the grand prize in the Ag Days Poster Contest. She received a plaque and $50. Mrs. Tedson’s second grade class at Prestwood Elementary School in Sonoma had the grand prize mural in the Ag Days contest, sponsored by Sonoma County Farm Bureau. Mrs. Tedson, far left, is joined by her students. Garrett Akre, a second grade student at Prestwood Elementary School in Sonoma, won the grand prize for his Decorated Grocery Bag in the Ag Days contest. He received a plaque and $50 from Sonoma County Farm Bureau. Bookmark Award Essay Winner

Eli Albright, a kindergarten student at Apple Blossom School in Sebastopol, won the grand prize bookmark in the Ag Days Contest.  He received a plaque and $50 from Sonoma County Farm Bureau. Presenting the award, left to right, Sonoma County Supervisors Susan Gorin and Shirlee Zane, Socorro Shiels, superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools and Dr. Steven Herrington, superintendent of the Sonoma County Office of Education.

Isaiah Zekarias, a second grade student at St. Rose School in Santa Rosa, was the grand prize winner of the Ag Days essay contest, sponsored by Sonoma County Farm Bureau. His winning essay was based on the theme, “Bee Healthy…Farm Happy.”  Isaiah received a plaque and $50 prize. Presenting the award, left to right, Sonoma County Supervisor Susan Gorin, Supervisor Shirlee Zane, Socorro Shiels, superintendent of Santa Rosa City Schools and Dr. Steven Herrington, superintendent of the Sonoma County Office of Education.
