Connie Jones is New District 3 Dairy Princess

18 year old Santa Rosan, Connie Jones was crowned District 3 Dairy Princess on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Petaluma Veterans Memorial Hall. The current senior at Petaluma High School will serve as the spokesperson for the Dairy Industry and represent local farmers and producers in Lake, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano and Mendocino counties. The daughter of Kim and Jeff Jones was also awarded the Isolena Maestretti Miss Vitality award which is voted on by the other contestants as the girl most helpful and friendly during the time leading up to the crowning. Connie is anxious to start showing the community about the hard work farmers put into the dairy industry and what great products they produce.
Helping Connie this year will be first alternate Alexandra Gambonini of St. Vincent de Paul High School in Petaluma. She will work along with Connie at fairs, school visits and many other community events. Also competing this year were Alyssa McClure of Inverness and Hailee Hankins who was the recipient of the Florence Gilardoni Scholarsip.
Judges for the contest were Leroy Rocha, Kelly Lawler and Katherine Nissen impartial representatives from other Districts in the State. Escorts for the evening were Nick DeMartin, Dante Feliciano, Joel Gutierrez, Ben Ielmorini, Steven Pozzi, Tony Rossi and Tyler Woodbury. Helping out during the day and evening were the milkmaids, Amanda Charles, Emily Corda, Emily DeCarli, Megan Groverman, Carly Olufs and Mary Sonnichsen.
The annual Dairy Princess Ball and Contest is co-sponsored by the North Bay Dairy Women and the California Milk Advisory Board. Serving as the chairperson and the person who makes everything happen is Judy Buttke of Buttke Dairy.
