The YF&R Committee held their September meeting at the Balletto’s baseball diamond – The Field of Dreams.

The September Monthly meeting for Sonoma-Marin Young Farmers and Ranchers was a very successful turnout where Balletto Vineyards & Winery in Santa Rosa hosted us.  Hidden behind the crush pad was our meeting location for a casual game of slow-pitch softball at the Balletto’s baseball diamond – The Field of Dreams.

The evening began with the buzz of harvest, with wine grapes being processed in the background; conversations included harvest, harvest and more harvest, with bits and pieces of harvest.  We gathered around the BBQ for hamburgers and sausages, having a brief meeting touching on upcoming events and officer elections coming up.  Once we wrapped up the meeting The Game began!

The first annual slow-pitch game had commenced with laughter and fun filling the air.  It was the real deal, 9 innings, 2 teams, 3 outs, and many homeruns!  Everyone enjoyed his or her time so much that we are going to continue the harvest kick-off with a friendly competitive all American slow-pitch soft ball game.

YF&R is always trying to make the group stronger and more prominent in the community.  We asked our members to take a brief survey on how YF&R can better serve them and what they wanted to gain from being a member of Sonoma-Marin YF&R.  If you were not able to attend the meeting and would like to share your input please send your thoughts on the following questions to sonomayfr@gmail.com

  • Why are you a participant of Sonoma-Marin YF&R?
  • What would help increase active participation in Sonoma-Marin YF&R?

YF&R has the idea of hosting a Sonoma County “Town Hall” Leadership Forum in 2017.  for our community members to have an opportunity to hear from the Board of Supervisors on important topics that are affecting Sonoma County agriculture specifically.  Please stay tune for more information about the forum in the upcoming publications.
