Sonoma County Farm Bureau Distributes 20,000 Farm News for Kids

Sonoma County Farm Bureau published and distributed 20,000 copies of its first edition of Farm News for kids. Farm Bureau staff has filled orders from local schools and agriculture businesses who have placed the publications on their counters and sent them home with customers and students.

Sonoma County Farm Bureau in cooperation with the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom produced Farm News for Kids in the spring as a supplement for Sonoma County Ag Days. The publication is a 24-page, full-color peice that offers a fun and interactive approach to learning about agriculture and eating healthy, locally grown food.

The publication is a kid-friendly celebration of Sonoma County’s most important and visible industry. Farm News for Kids is a primer on Sonoma County food and farming for students in Grade 3-6. It introduces students to some of the farmers producing the milk, eggs, meat and produce consumed every day. Many activities in the paper are aligned to the Content Standards for California Public Schools.
