Our 4H year started off with many returning and new members in September. Our members had many projects to choose from: Archery, Citizenship, Cooking, Dairy Cattle, Dogs, Equine, Food Preservation, Gardening, Market Goats, Market Lambs, Market Swine, Poultry, Pygmy Goats, Rabbits, Record Book and Sewing. We are grateful for all of our leaders for providing these great projects!
In the fall we had many fundraising and community service activities. We had bake sales at the Two Rock Fire Department BBQ, Petaluma Pumpkin Patch and Larsen’s Tree Farm. Members brought their animals and displays to the Two Rock Presbyterian Church BBQ. We participated in the window display contest. Our members learned how to give back to the community through our Toy Collection, Christmas Cards for Seniors, Wreaths Across America and Christmas Tree donation to a family in need.
The club also made a little time for fun at our annual mummy contest in October where we also wore our Halloween costumes. In November we were comfortable in our PJs. In December we all wore our Ugly Christmas sweaters or Holiday themed clothes to the meeting.
In January we celebrated our members with Achievement night and in February we had our ice cream social. We also brought in or made Valentines at the meeting to hand out to the elderly. Some of our members helped serve at the Sonoma County Crab Feed, which is a very big event put on by the Farm Bureau. In March we dressed in green for our meeting for St. Patrick’s Day. Chicken Que posters and t-shirt contests were also due. In April we held officer nominations as we are getting ready for the next 4-H year. We can’t wait to show support to our new team of officers.
In May we will held our officer elections to determine who our new officers are for the next 4-H year. We also wore Hawaiian clothes to the meeting and did the limbo. Our club participated in the 4-H Chicken Que on May 7th with a booth and members working at the BBQ.
Coming up in June we will celebrate the year at Pinky’s Pizza and we will have a quick meeting. It’s been a great year so far as a club and now some members start to get ready for fair. Good luck to everyone who will have their projects at the fair. We have amazing members and leaders. Thank you to everyone for making this year possible and all the help from parents as well. We are thankful to be part of Two-Rock 4-H.
