Last month I talked about how membership is important to Sonoma County Farm Bureau. This month I would like to let everyone know about just a couple of Sonoma County Farm Bureau member benefits, such as safety courses and compliance workshops for employees and employers.
Farm Bureau has offered this benefit for many years. Our labor and safety committee meets quarterly to keep up with new labor laws and issues that affect our members. We try and set our safety courses and workshops throughout the year so most of our members can take advantage of them. We offer most classes in English and Spanish languages and partner with CA Farm Bureau on certain courses like our most recent Hazardous Ag Materials Certification Course. We are continuing to offer courses throughout the year and into next year. We are always looking for new ideas and would like to hear from members and the community regarding what their training and compliance needs may be.
Here is a small list of classes we have offered or are scheduled in the remainder of the year,
- Card Check legislation
- Wildfire Safety & Preparedness train for the Ag Access Program
- CARB diesel regulations
- Tractor / PTO
- CPR / First Aid / AED
Here are some courses that the labor and safety committee have come up with for future courses,
- Ag Supervisor / Farm Manager training
- Cal/OSHA compliance
- Injury and illness Prevention Program
- Harvest safety / Night work regulation
- Aerial Lift certification
- New tax laws
- Retirement plans
Although most classes are held at the Sonoma County Farm Bureau office, we would like to let everyone know that we can provide custom onsite trainings as well. Finally, you can also obtain your labor law posters and signage from the Farm Bureau office.
So please check with the office and keep your eyes on the Sonoma Marin Farm News for scheduled workshops and classes.
