Proposed General Order for Waste Discharge Requirements for Commercial Vineyards in the North Coast Region (Region 1)

August 30, 2023, ED Ghirardelli and Deputy ED Bartholow submitted comments regarding the Proposed General Order for Waste Discharge Requirements for Commercial Vineyards in the North Coast Region (Region 1). Of particular concern are the onerous monitoring and reporting requirements, no TMDL on the Russian River to date, and the costs of implementing the permit. Similar comments aired on August 4th, when Deputy ED Bartholow and numerous Sonoma County and Mendocino County Farm Bureau members attended the public workshop at the Regional Water Board offices in Santa Rosa.

On July 10, 2023, California Farm Bureau Federation, Mendocino County Farm Bureau, and Sonoma County Farm Bureau requested that the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (North Coast Water Board) consider extensions of time for activities related to the adoption of Draft General Waste Discharge Requirements for Commercial Vineyards In the North Coast Region (Region 1 Draft Vineyard Order).
