The Community First Credit Union (CFCU) volunteer team is made up of dedicated professionals with deep roots in Sonoma County and a strong commitment to community service. The team includes Rebecca Nystrom Brito, Betty Mullen, Sharon Creedon, Lisa Torres, Amanda Jamison, and Bonnie Carretero, who together bring decades of experience and a shared passion for giving back. Rebecca, a Sonoma County native, has been with CFCU for 11 years; Betty for 3 years; Sharon for 14 years; Lisa, a Santa Rosa native, for 18 years; Amanda for 12 years; and Bonnie for 7 years.

Within CFCU, the team holds a variety of important roles. Rebecca serves as the Learning & Development Manager, overseeing new hire training, ongoing education, and leadership development. Lisa manages a team of four in the Card Services department, ensuring card services run smoothly while actively working to prevent fraud. As a team, they share a commitment to always act in the best interest of the credit union and its members.

The team is passionate about family, community, and workplace culture. They value the strong connections they have with friends, family, and the Sonoma County community, and many enjoy stepping outside their comfort zones through volunteering, which allows them to meet new people and build new experiences. The positive culture at CFCU is a key source of pride and motivation for the group.

The team loves spending time outdoors, whether hiking and picnicking, kayaking in the summer, exploring beaches, gardening, or camping. One highlight for the group is an annual family camping trip to Burney Falls, along with frequent visits to farmers’ markets throughout Sonoma County. Favorite destinations mentioned by the team include Richardson Grove, Disneyland, and Kauai.

Volunteering with Farm Bureau is especially meaningful to the CFCU team. They enjoy supporting local agriculture, connecting with the community, and working alongside one another at Farm Bureau events. Many shared that these events are not only fun, but also rewarding, particularly those that highlight youth and agricultural education. Favorite events include the Sonoma Crab and Wine Fest, and Love of the Land, each offering opportunities to reconnect with the community, enjoy great food, and see the positive impact of their involvement.

Beyond Farm Bureau, team members are also involved with other local organizations such as the Redwood Empire Food Bank, Russian Riverkeepers, Food For Thought, Russian River Clean Up, and local animal shelters and rescue groups. The team summed up their approach to volunteering simply: if they are available, they will sign up, and above all, they believe in never stopping caring.Â
