On Monday, June 13 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sonoma County Farm Bureau in partnership with American AgCredit hosted the first of four virtual seminars in the Farming in a Digital Era: Marketing Strategies to Grow Your Brand Webinar Series. Former Google executive Steven Lerch of Story Arc Consulting gave a presentation titled, “Building Trust and Connection in a Digital World”

Steven Lerch is an award-winning international public speaker and digital strategist. Since 2015 Lerch has specialized in the food and agriculture industry working with the National Pork Board, Milk PEP and American Egg Board. In his presentation, Steven shared helpful resources, tips, and strategies to use to better connect, engage with and target customers online through social media platforms and websites. He stressed the importance of knowing your audience and tailoring messages to best fit your target customer. Steven said that today’s consumers thoroughly research products online before making purchases, which is why it’s essential to have a strong online presence.

“It’s so important to have a presence online on a website like Google, which reaches billions of people,” Lerch said. “Google’s index has 130 trillion pages and that’s how your consumer today is getting information. This really does emphasize that if you are not online and your customers have questions that relate to your product, brand, or industry, or anything related to you, and you’re not there, they have 130 trillion other resources to access including those of your competitors.”

This is why Lerch encouraged attendees to do research and work to develop their online brand and suggested several helpful tools to use like Google Trends, Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimization, and Sprout Social. Following his presentation, Steven answered questions from the virtual audience.
