February Farm News Member Profile: Encore Events Rentals, Bridget Doherty

For the past decade, Encore Event Rentals has been helping clients to make each and every celebration from formal weddings to casual barbecues, corporate parties to winery events and more, into an unforgettable event.

Encore Events Rentals is a local family-owned and operated, event rental company with three locations serving greater Wine Country including the Windsor Showroom, Petaluma Showroom, and St. Helena Design Studio.

Bridget Doherty, owner and president of the company, said that she believes passionately in helping to make every celebration memorable. The company’s products not only accommodate clients and their guests but also make any event look terrific.

Encore Events began as an expansion off Cal-West Rentals, the equipment rental company Doherty’s father started, based in Petaluma.

“I took over Cal-West Rentals, in 2001 when my father passed away suddenly,” she said.

Today, Doherty and her brother, Tyler Doherty, own Encore Events Rentals and Cal-West Rentals. She manages Encore Events Rentals and Tyler manages Cal-West Rentals.

Encore Events Rentals is now in its 10th year of business and continues to grow and expand for its employees and customers. Today, the company employs 125 people on average, year-round. Doherty said that working and succeeding as a team is what Encore is all about and what sets their company apart.

“Within our management team alone we have over 150 years of event rental experience,” Doherty said.

She said that keeping their business on a smaller scale allows for her team to connect on a more personal level with customers and offer exclusive account care and attention.

“We love what we do, who we do it with, and who we do it for,” Doherty said. “At Encore, we focus on our ability to be nimble and efficient while serving our customers with the excellent product and care they deserve.”

She said that the work Encore does requires the attention and involvement of many people per rental order and it is a great source of satisfaction to see her team operate together successfully.

“Encore is very team-focused,” Doherty said. “We succeed and grow as a team.”

Encore Events is a full-service rental company that can provide all the essentials clients need for both entertaining and serving guests. The company offers an extensive inventory, the latest trends, setup and delivery for any celebration. They house a complete and growing line of event rental items including lounge furniture, linens, china, glassware, tables and chairs, décor, bars, tents and much more.

Encore Events Rentals has two showroom and warehouse locations, in Windsor and Petaluma, as well as a design studio in St. Helena serving the needs of the Napa Valley. The company largely focuses on the wine country as well as the greater Bay Area.

On December 10, 2019, Encore Events Rentals opened its newest 56,000-square-foot showroom in Windsor. The space boasts tall ceilings, four different design bays where clients can discuss every last detail of their event, and a warehouse full of supplies.

Doherty said that growing up and doing business in Sonoma County for the past 20 years has made her appreciate what agricultural offers to the community.

“I appreciate our many beautiful venues, wine business, and tourism, which are all components of our county’s economic growth,” Doherty said. “I also really resonate with and respect the many multi-generational businesses, many of which are dairies, in our county.”

Doherty said that Encore is a member of the Sonoma County Farm Bureau because she believes in supporting the local community.

“We support everything local – agriculture, families, businesses—within our community and want to continue seeing all flourish in Sonoma County,” Doherty said.

Doherty said that her goal is to continue to grow Encore across all aspects of the business, but most importantly to grow it in a way that helps their employees to flourish personally and professionally, while also being a part of a great local company.
