Farm Bureau Hall of Fame The Late Al Gerhardt Al Gerhardt, a familiar fixture on the farm front for more than a half century, is being inducted into Sonoma County Farm Bureau‘s Hall of Fame. Gerhardt, who was 79, died Nov. 21, 2017 of a heart attack while on his way to a Farm Bureau meeting. The longtime Farm Bureau director is being honored posthumously for his many contributions to agriculture and his unwavering support for 4-H and FFA. Farm Family of the Year: DeBernardi Family Don and Bonnie DeBernardi have been raising and milking Holstein dairy cows since 1968 in the hills of Two Rock. In the late 90’s, two Nubian goats were purchased for their grandchildren, and before long turned into a small herd. Like his ancestors in the Swiss Alps, Don decided to turn the goat milk into cheese, and from there Two Rock Valley Goat Cheese was born. Luther Burbank Conservation Award Doug McIlroy Doug McIlroy, director of winegrowing at Rodney Strong Vineyards in Healdsburg, is a respected advocate for agriculture and the environment. Equal part farmer, environmentalist and scientist, McIlroy has been at the forefront of every water issue facing Sonoma County growers over the last two decades. Tessa Buratto Matuszak joined the Farm Bureau team in 2018 to coordinate all of our wonderful special events! Tessa is a 5th generation, born and raised Sonoman, with roots deep in agriculture. She was in 4-H and was an FFA member at El Molino High School where she graduated. Tessa received her BS in Dairy Science from Cal Poly and minored in Ag Business. Susan Hansen joined the Farm Bureau team in 2018 to oversee Membership. For the previous eleven years, Susan served as the Executive Director for the 4-H Foundation, now known as the Sonoma County Youth Ag and Leadership Foundation.
